My name is Deborah “Deb” Marchant’ (the last name is pronounced like Mar-Shawnt). I live in Rincon, Puerto Rico, and I love it here. I grew up in Seattle and there I was surprisedly voted “Best Personality” by my junior high classmates, and the “Most Sincere and Understanding” by my high school classmates, much to my true & genuine embarrassment. “If they thought this about me, we’re in trouble”, I thought. “Where is the nearest school locker to hide in”. I am basically a soft spoken and calm private persons, and one of those reclusive poets, who will blow your mind.
In 2008, after meditating daily for six months, I experienced a surprising transforming enlightenment. I highly recommend this for everyone, if haven’t experienced this already. The closet I have come, so far, in understanding this is when I came across Jeffrey Martin’s research. https://lifeitself.org/learn/fundamental-wellbeing.
I am a version of one of those introverted INFJs, peacefully-wise perfectionist 1 wing 9 enneagrams, temperamentally Sanguine-Melancholys, neurologically Highly Sensitive People (HSP), a gifted adult, and a Neutral Good,
and this is my up and coming business poem website. Right now, my poems are free to read and this will change. Eventually, I will have affordable memberships to sign up for, and it will be worth it. I create authentically original, uniquely one-of-a-kind, thought-provoking poems, starting from nothing.
They are created from the journey of researching, delving into deep feeling and deep thinking, intense observations of people, being physically still to do editing, editing editing, and finally publishing. My poems are well-thought-out, invaluable poems. They are designed to be mind-opening, and this is my goal – for the good of us all.
I have a bachelors degree in Mass Communication, with an emphasis in Journalism. I was a card carrying member of the Society of Professional Journalists – abiding by a code of ethics. I have a masters degree in Public Administration, with an emphasis in Tribal Government. I am a certified guide in strong critical thinking – thanks to the Foundation for Critical Thinking.
A handful of professors asked me to a professor, and one asked me go on to be an environmental attorney and a judge. I said, “No thanks. Too much work”. I was once a county jury coordinator, and spearheaded – among a few other public projects I decided to do as a private citizen – spearheaded adding a city code to install downward facing public lighting – so we could see the stars. It worked. We finally could see the Milky Way.
I have traveled through Europe, in parts of Asia, Canada and most of the United States. I’d like to visit the people of and at America Samoa Island, and probably won’t. I’d just like to.
I am direct descendant of Native Alaskan Athabaskans, Mexican Chol’ Mayans, and Native Guanches of the Canary Islands. The Guanches were there before the Spanish invasion, and were well known by sailors to be good people. William Shakespeare is a cousin, and great grand dad is good King Edward IV of England. He is the first English king to establish an English book of laws. My PhD dad was a life-long school psychologist, and he wrote long epic poems. He described me as being like another Emily Dickinson. Nope. Thanks anyway, I’m me, and I describe my poems as being breathable.
My background in writing poems began when I handmade and wrote greeting cards in elementary school. I set up a workbench down in the dark and musty smelling basement, and painted it a cheery yellow. I am well known by those who know me for my writings. I am a born poet-like most of we human animals can be. We are story tellers. Two of my favorite books were as a girl are the dictionary and the thesaurus. I soaked in them. Here is thee place to read my regularly created and published poems. Thank you for being here. You are worth it.
Much Love, Deb
