Dear Reader, the fiction film, “Superior Force” or “Force Majeure” provides an excellent example of people reacting to death anxiety.

Among the characters is a married couple and their children witnessing an oncoming avalanche – sitting at an outdoor restaurant on a ski trip. Each of them goes from pleasantly eating a delicious lunch to immediately feeling sheer terror.

How the husband & dad automatically reacts spirals the family’s natural death anxiety. The description of this film describes him as being selfish.

But the reality of how he reacted “unheroically” makes sense and is understandable once realizing that this a normal reaction to the fear of death to talk about and to show love and empathy over.
