This poem is in honor and memory of Mike “Spike” McGown.
He died from suicide induced CTE, created playing two decades of football. He was the son of my favorite person in childhood, his Mom Bonnie. Many loved and miss Mike – his daughter, the family I grew up with, and hundreds he helped with his financial business. I had brief email exchanges with him – not knowing he had CTE – and just before he made the hard decision. We talked about his dear Mother, who died just after he was born.
