I walked over to my neighbor’s
with a gift of a new kitchen sponge.
On the way there I saw some change on the road and a little lizard.
I picked it up –
the coins, not the little critter. I watched and imagined what the lizard’s life is like.
At my neighbor’s
she threw away an old kitchen sponge and replaced it with my gift, and served us freshly made tea from her new & beautiful cups,
and showed me her new top-loading washing machine with a glass lid.
We stood over it, entertained, watching the water coming up, spin, water going down, spin.
She looked forward to sleeping in freshly washed clean sheets.
I felt happy with her.
Satisfied and relaxed –
on the walk home, the rains came & went, softly soaking my nostrils and clothing with the rich smell of wet Earth.
At home,
I got out of the wet clothes, put on clean pajamas, the night sky appeared.
I went outside and stared up at the bright stars, and thought of the universe.
The day ended up ending even better when in bed, I fell peacefully asleep lightly still holding a good book on my relaxed and contented breast.
