for our death

is the gravity

for pushing us over,

and the tornadoes for beating us up.

How to blame the rain,

and collect big bucks from raindrops,

for their floods that drown us?

Who do we sue when Earth quakes,

opens up, and cracks our head from our falling into Earth’s crevices?
The Earth is immune from suing.

Can we only sue what speaks

or has words to defend itself inside a court of law?

I can imagine viruses, winds and dogs,

speaking words before a jury and judge.

the dog at the stand says,

”It was in self-defense”

the wind at the stand says,

”I did not see the plaintiff”

the virus says,

”I was invited in. You can’t blame me. They left their door wide open”.

And then there’s the avalanche saying,

”Gravity pushed me!”

Try suing that bee, that snake, and that spider.
Try suing that bacteria, and that big boulder.
They can’t speak up in court to have your case dismissed.

Try suing a heart, a horse, and a house, for collapsing beneath you.
Try suing the money because it bankrupted and suicided you.Try suing an infant for your death by sleep loss.
Try suing Insanity.

I can imagine Insanity saying,

”The plaintiff is not dead. She is right there,” pointing directly at the judge.

Try suing that rifle, the crack in the sidewalk, those stairs, and the stares.

What else goes unsuable and gets away with it?
Your weak muscles, your poor hearing, your brain’s memory loss, your poor vision, and thin brittle old bones,

basically your body’s aging. It cannot be sued.

It really cannot be sued, and taken to court,

and even if it’s true and can be proven

that

it did do you in,

your case will be dismissed.
The courts do not recognize your Old Age as a defendant.
